When owner drawings blur operating cash
Owner drawings are normal. Confusion starts when drawings, tax instalments, and trading expenses share one undifferentiated bank view.
Create a simple rule: decide a regular drawing amount, post it the same way each time, and review exceptions monthly rather than daily.
If the business funds a personal cost occasionally, record it clearly so profit figures remain usable for pricing decisions.
During cash flow rhythm checks we ask owners to name the three largest personal obligations paid from the business account. Visibility alone often changes timing.
Clear drawings do not restrict owners — they make the remaining cash figure trustworthy enough to plan wages and supplier payments.
